Everybody's Favorite Bagman

This is actually the series' pilot. It was produced in 1988 for CBS, which passed on the show. After NBC picked it up, the network decided to air the pilot after the premiere episode. In this episode, the detectives meet A.D.A. Paul Robinette for the first time (even though they have already dealt with him in Episodes 1.1 through 1.5), and Roy Thinnes appears as the D.A. even though Steven Hill had appeared as D.A. Adam Schiff in the earlier episodes.

Anthony Scalisi is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, assault in the second degree, assault in the first degree and attempted murder in the second degree. It is stated that Scalisi has previously been convicted of murder, New York penal code article 125 states that a person who caused the death of another person during the commission of a violent felony like assault in the first or second degree, intentionally kills someone who is an elected official, or intentionally kills someone and has previously been convicted of murder, is guilty of murder in the first degree; and all three of those instances apply here. Which means Scalisi should be charged with attempted murder in the first degree, and if the councilman dies the charge would be upgraded to murder in the first degree.
