While he has been mentioned several times this is the first onscreen appearance of Detective John Munch's brother, Bernard "Bernie" Munch, played by Joey Perillo. In fact in the 23 year onscreen history of the character of John Munch he mentions Bernie a number of times but this episode is one of only two onscreen appearances of John's brother, the other being the season six episode All Is Bright (1997). Munch mentions Bernie on several occasions throughout his time on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), but Bernie never made an appearance.

Goofs
The last scene in the squad room Pembleton is seen with a yellow soda can in his hand for three quick shots then cuts to solo shot where he is drinking from a red soda can.
