Hazell might aspire to be a hard boiled detective. This is the kind of quirky adventure that made it into a hit series.

Hazell is hired by one of these strict Presbyterian types from Paisley. Alec Gilbraith has come to London for a society dinner and has no idea what he did the night before or how he ended up with over a £1000 in cash in his pocket.

Hazell has to discreetly retrace Alec's steps and find out how he managed to find the money.

The adventure takes Hazell to a Tudor Inn type of restaurant, a massage parlour and the seedy Soho hangouts of the 1970s. It is not long before Hazell discovers that a notorious London gangster claims that the money belongs to him. Proceeds of his protection racket. Also 'Choc' Minty is not far behind Hazell.

What makes this fun is that the strict Gilbraith has problems in keeping sober. Left to his own devices, he gets drunk and wants a good time. He also becomes anti English.

This episode features Michael Elphick as a cockney gangster with a love for French phrases. Kevin Lloyd plays one of his minions. Sadly both actors died of a relatively young age due to alcoholism.
