Hazell visits his old mum at the hospital. In the next bed is the dying mother of a wanted getaway driver from a bank robbery. The security guard was seriously injured.

Hazell's mum persuades Hazell to look for Bernie Franks who is in hiding and persuade him to see his mother one last time.

The trouble is the entire London police force are looking for Bernie.

Bernie's wife is none too helpful, she blames Bernie's mother that he ended up in a life of crime. She was on the game for years. Their young daughter draws an important clue and Hazell's mother later imparts some vital information.

As the title states, Hazell works for nothing and it takes him to the seedy parts of London. As Bernie's mother was a prostitute then it seems that might be a place to go. The police are also keeping a close watch on Hazell.

This is a good episode of Hazell. Elements of seediness, noir, a few twists and comedy. Hazell even gets an important revelation at the clap clinic.
