Christopher Ellison stars as Tommy, a year after making his debut as Sgt. Tommy Burnside in The Bill (1984), in 1984. Originally called Tommy in Funny Ol' Business - Cops & Robbers (1984), Ringer (1986) and The Chief Super's Party (1986) before becoming a regular character, Frank Burnside, in 1988. The name had to be changed as there was a real Tommy Burnside serving in The Metropolitan Police at the same time.
