Shortly before the end of the episode, Dietrich, who is watching TV, notes that "Taxi's on in five minutes." The series Taxi (1978) actually did follow "Barney Miller" on the ABC Thursday night line-up. Note: Only partly true. Taxi followed Barney miller in the 1981-1982 season only in the winter and summer. Bosom Buddies and 9 to 5 preceded Taxi in the Fall and Spring.

Goofs
When Det. Sgt. Arthur Dietrich is playing the clarinet, he stops and wonders out loud, "Is it E flat or E minor?" A clarinet is incapable of producing an E minor, which is a chord. Chords are three or more notes played simultaneously. Clarinets can only play one note at a time.

Crazy credits
The closing credits use all capital letters. Unfortunately, this makes the capital L and the capital I in series creator Theodore J. FLICKER look like a capital U which makes his name look like something that one wouldn't normally see on broadcast television of the 1970s.
