When Joe Penhall gets run off the road at the beginning of the episode, the crash scene is reused footage from The Rockford Files (1974) in Heartaches of a Fool (1978). Both were Universal productions with Stephen J. Cannell as Producer.

Goofs
About three minutes into the episode, an eighteen-wheeler swerves to avoid two cars in the middle of the road, then flips on its side. As it is landing on its side, there is a stuntman visible behind the steering wheel, wearing a helmet.
