The Holocaust episode (#2.9 "I Hate You") was based on a true story from Auschwitz-Birkenau survivor Elisabeth Mann who allowed the writers to create a fictional character to portray her, Charlotte Kerjesz (played by Rita Zohar) who befriends Simon ('David Gallagher'). Actor David Gallagher admits this is his favorite in the entire series.
