The performance was taped on December 19th, 1987. Elton John dedicated his performances of "Candle In The Wind" and "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" to a long-time fan that had been following Elton for nearly 20 years. The fan was suffering from terminal cancer and Elton said backstage that he hoped that "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" would make him fight for his life for a little while longer.
