Peter Graves is the chess loving head of the Office of National Resources, a clandestine government department which helps prevent major crimes by enlisting everyday citizens with specific skills for short term deployment to work on cases of national security.

Graves is working overtime to prevent stolen goods of national security from being taken out of the country, appealing to the reluctant, honeymooning Travanti to accept the dangerous assignment on account of his occupation and special interests. James Gregory co-stars as the impatient Treasury official, and William Smithers ('Papillon', 'Dallas') also features as a private bodyguard whose unique hobby might be an Achilles heel.

This taut, well-conceived B&W TV pilot didn't translate into a TV series, although did spawn a remake of sorts in 1973 in which Graves also starred, two different treatments of an appealing concept both of which are recommended viewing.

The adventure genre features exciting journeys, quests, or expeditions undertaken by characters who often face challenges, obstacles, and risks in pursuit of a goal. Adventures can take place in a wide range of settings, from exotic and fantastical locations to historical or even everyday environments.

Jim Kingsley leads a secret government agency whose mission is to solve cases that stump other law enforcement offices.
