With the advent of the new Millennium, Zak Spears reinvented himself as a gruff daddy type, seemingly far removed from the smooth (in style if not in heavenly hirsute appearance) leading man he was in the early Nineties, when his matinée idol looks and awesome amorous skills were evenly matched by thespian prowess as evidenced by his justly award-winning turn in Brad Austin's SUNSEX BOULEVARD. Acting talent no longer being a coveted asset on the gay side of the adult industry nowadays, Spears seemed happy enough to convert to the no holds barred sex pig that had always smoldered within.

Released through the Falcon off-shoot Mustang canal, ZAK ATTACK bears the hallmark of its mother (father ? camp auntie ?) company in terms of high production values with even the slightest excuse for plot or premise jettisoned in favor of a four sex scene structure dictated by its industrial cruise club setting. Drag queen director Chi Chi LaRue has always shared a congenial working relationship with the star he discovered slinging drinks in a dive bar and once again assures that fans of the great man will come away with smiles on their faces as each of the set-ups duly involves Zak's participation in some way or other. For instance, the opening tryst between Twinkie Danny Vox (from LaRue's unpretentiously enjoyable RUFFIN' IT) and the slightly more butch Mario Ortiz (who made a memorable impression in Michael Lucas' STRANGERS OF THE NIGHT) heats up no end through Spears' verbal interventions, encouraging Ortiz to plow into Vox with ever increasing ferocity, tantalizingly delaying his eventual physical partaking until the last minute.

German Thom Barron, who played Sailor Billy in John Travis' amiable BILLY 2000, is brought in for what used to be euphemistically referred to as the "mail order scene", i.e. the obligatory fist insertion bit that Falcon only used to include in copies ordered through mail. While I could happily live without most of these invariably clinical displays of what goes where, further hampered by frequently less than healthy-looking recipients, this present example fortunately shatters the mold. Right from the start, it's clear that Barron and Spears are hot for each other, the latter demonstrating as caring and considerate a bedside manner as can reasonably be expected from a hand to rectum perpetrator, performing the "foreign introduction" only after extensive foreplay.

Final scene finds Zak bottoming for Falcon contract starlet and occasional Colt model Brad Patton, a blond beauty sporting a slab of mammoth uncut meat who supported much hyped "next big thing" Billy Brandt in the company's LaRue-staged TOMMY'S TALE, thereby pretty much covering all bases with the exception of a group grope, so this is graciously supplied in scene three. Involving the rest of the cast, along with the welcome re-appearance of Ortiz, it starts out with what has become something of a director's trademark as two smaller groups gradually merge into one big crowd. Well, the number of performers ultimately totals at a mere six but this exceptionally well-oiled combo generates enough energy to kick-start a small power plant
