This movie caused anger among Bodo militants of North Eastern India, who are shown in very bad light. This caused some protests and threats. Director Mani Shankar apologized publicly, although the film was banned in the region.

During the Manipur sequence of the film, while hunting for militants in the jungle, Muhammad Ali (Ajay Devgn) explains to his platoon how India is affected by its neighboring countries. During his explanation, he mistakenly says that India has fought three wars with China and describes Pakistan as a nation that is "a friend today and an enemy tomorrow." In reality, the situation is reversed - India has fought three major wars with Pakistan, while its diplomatic relations with China have remained tense and unstable.
