There is a fairly in-depth discussion of how males with spinal cord injuries have sex. Some explicit language and descriptions of sexual acts.

There is brief scene in a club which shows men and women drinking and smoking.

Bob describes having lost all four limbs to a sudden childhood illness; this clearly is a frightening idea to the children he explains it to. The other players also describe the mishaps that left them paralyzed.

Some scenes are filmed at a rehabilitation facility where various patients are struggling to re-learn simple tasks. To see adults so helpless might be disturbing to children. Another scene is filmed at a facility for wounded veterans, many of whom are young people missing limbs.

The animosity between the American team and Joe Soares is often very intensely out in the open.

The game itself is extremely intense and rough.
