John McBride anxiously awaits news of the arrival of Sir Roger Casement, who is due to return to Ireland with news of a consignment of weapons arriving in Ireland to arm the Easter Rising. Despite various obstacles, McBride will stop at nothing to rid Ireland of British rule.

It's a very good episode, one of the better ones I've seen so far. It's an interesting story; I like that it's told from an Irish point of view for a change.

You don't often think about what was happening elsewhere during the First World War; it tends to consume the period, but events were unfolding throughout the rest of the world.

I think the ending of this will be quite memorable, that was one brutal conclusion.

It's very nicely made, with very good production values. I particularly loved the policemen's bikes and guns; they looked terrific.

Patrick Troughton is excellent as McBride, such a strong presence that it doesn't even matter if the accent varies a little. I thought Billie Whitelaw was fantastic as his doting wife.
