Accurate depiction of the history, but not enough

The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Dawning.

This movie paints an accurate picture of the history of Chinese communist movement, its power struggle, and near disastrous effect of the erroneous policy of Ming Wang.  What the movie did not emphasize enough was that Ming Wang's faction was supported by Communist International, which was set up by former-USSR, and with their Soviet master's support, their brutal persecution of their opponents.

However, such things could not be emphasized in China because the ex-USSR was lead by dictator Joseph Stalin, who are still cheered as a positive figure in China today, and if the persecution was explored carefully by going further, it would be a huge embarrassment for Chinese government.

In Mainland China, this takes the form of allegory and large-scale epics that reflect on national history. From 1930 to 1935 some members of the Communist Party in China work for the ouster of Wang Ming's leadership which has almost led to disaster for the Red Army.
