Insightful, well-written Wolf/Lee study of self-discovery

Writer-producer Simon Wolf and director Bud Lee collaborated on many fine films at the turn of this century, and "Gypsy Curse" finds them combining entertainment with a thoughtful story line, well-enacted by Evan Stone.

The curse occurs when Stone saves an elderly gypsy lady being attacked, while he's out for a walk with his lovable dog (Stone's own dog in the role). She rewards him with by granting a wish, which of course turns out to be a curse.

He's given a chance to re-do a fateful encounter he had years back as a pool boy with rich lady Lezley Zen (looking mah-velous), sunning herself by her pool. This time around he romances her (XXX style), and they marry, plunging him into a life of luxury.

Stone cannot adapt to this new lifestyle, so besides the tons of sex presented (not to disappoint the Adult Cinema audience) he ponders his decision, ultimately given a chance to reclaim his old life and his beloved doggie. Final twist concerns the gypsy lady morphing into beautiful Jessica Drake (Stone's real-life lady at the time) and a different type of happy ending. 

An excellent supporting cast, including Asia Carrera, Flick Shagwell, Aurora Snow and Sunrise Adams keep the heat up, while Zen's man Trevor Zen appears, not to hump her but rather one of the other lovelies. Along the way scripter Wolf makes salient points regarding "the meaning of life" and what's important from the point-of-view of Evan's character.

Quality Couples romance cinema, they way they used to do.
