Sammy Burns gets in on the Chaplin imitators' craze in an honest way as Dot Farley -- young and surprisingly pretty for anyone used to seeing her play Edgar Kennedy's battle-axe of a mother-in-law in his RKO series twenty-five years later -- develops a passion for the screen star and letters go astray, causing the increasingly angry Mr. Burns.... well, you get the idea and he is quite good in the role, doing a fair imitation that still leaves his character fairly clear and is amusing in its own right.

In some ways, Chaplin was such a great comedy star that he blighted the landscape for ten years as various more or less talented comics abandoned the potentially interesting comedies they might have made in order to fail at the impossible: to be Chaplin.
