This film is the dramatized version of the true story of Chinese police in the fight against drug trafficking.  The Yunnan province at the Southwestern China borders the infamous Golden Triangle, where most heroin was produced, and drug cartels are increasingly using China as a trafficking route to smuggle heroin to Hong Kong and Southeast Asia for their eventual designations in America and Australia.

Mandarin-language cinema across Mainland China, Taiwan, and Singapore explores historical reflection, cultural identity, and personal sacrifice, often expressed through poetic visuals and sweeping narratives. In Mainland China, this takes the form of allegory and large-scale epics that reflect on national history.
