Previous comment is incorrect. I worked on this show and Aretha Franklin was definitely NOT a host although she did appear. The hosts were as listed: Lou Rawls, Glen Campbell and Helen Reddy. It was broadcast from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and winter weather delayed Ms. Reddy's and her husband/manager's arrival. The show was produced by Dick Clark Productions (DCP)in partnership with ABC-TV. It aired on ABC and ABC provided the venue, all technical and stage personnel, make-up, wardrobe, sets, lighting, equipment and production management. DCP provided the director, writers, music, arranged the procedures for determining winners and booked all the talent,including hosts, presenters, musical performers, dancers, etc.
