Madhu and Srividya are happily married with 3 kids - Ambika being the first . Sukumari a dance teacher comes visiting to their town as their neighbor . The usual friendly Srividya tries to keep avoiding her . Ambika is puzzled about this and tries to find out why .

Sukumari has her own history with Srividya. Years ago , in Kashmir when she was running a dance school , Madhu was posted there on office work . Her main dancer gets close to Madhu after he attends some of her shows . After a couple of duets they end up marrying much to Sukumari's displeasure at losing her main artist .

They have a daughter soon .

She is also unhappy with her pregnancy but continues because Madhu wants it .

She wants to continue dancing and even refuses to feed her own daughter scared that her figure will start changing . She keeps sneaking away to dance shows .

Madhu is sad and angry and tries to stop her . Next door Srividya is leading an unhappy life with her uncle and aunt . She keeps coming to his house in his absence and taking care of this kid . Very soon Madhu and Srividya start bonding . She herself is looking for an escape route .

One fine day his wife leaves him for good saying her dance is most important for her and she wishes a divorce .

Madhu and Srividya return back home as a married couple .

They start life afresh with 2 more kids .

Once Ambika comes to know this story ,she goes to Kashmir in search of her biological mother. Srividya and Madhu are most unhappy with this change in her but refuse to stand in her way .

When Ambika meets her mother (who is cold , money minded and aloof and shows no affection towards her own daughter ) she realises the true affection of her own selfless parents who brought her up and returns back home . The family is united once again .

Sukumari lights up the screen each time with her comic tactics . She is a delight to watch wearing soft sarees or tight salwars .

All three main cast wear soft sarees to show off their domestic status . Srividya is a beauty and emotes superbly as usual in her role as a young unhappy girl or married mother of 3 kids . Ambika is perfect in her short role of a daughter confused about her parentage . Over all a fine family fare .
