Johnny and his gang steal a car. After about three seconds they crash, and then Johnny is picked up by the cops. But he isn't beaten to a rag, or sent to reform school/junior prison. Instead, the judge assigns him to a probation officer, a man who visits Johnny's neighborhood and sets the kid on the straight-and-narrow by teaching him to build model airplanes.

That's a brusk and unkind way of describing this well-meaning short subject. It was produced to promote a more humane way of rehabilitating young offenders. I'm sure it had its successes. But it also had a lot of failures.
