      In early development, the film was originally going to be produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation as a 2D animated movie intended to be released in theaters around Christmas time. But due to problems with Warner Bros. executives, creator and producer Michael Bedard took the rights of the film back and ended up selling the film to be co-produced by Nelvana and Film Roman as a computer-animated TV movie instead.

      • Santa Claus: My first sled. She was a beauty. I was pretty dapper myself. I put a lot of miles on that baby. Somewhere around the 17th century, I ran out of cargo space. I moved up to a newer model. That's when I met Mrs. Claus. Oh, what a cutie. We were married and, only a century later, blessed with triplets: Roy, Daryl and Mel. Mel's the little one. Of course, the boys always shared everything fair and square. I taught them how to fish, to make a good snowball and how to slide down a chimney without burning your keister. Being Santa was a big job, and I wasn't getting any younger. But I had my sons: the best kept secret at the North Pole.
