Many years ago I met someone who had worked with the director of this family and had revealed one of his biggest secrets to me: he was Uruguayan. Beyond this detail, in this film we see the initial work of a prolific director within the sicaliptic world who, with barely a budget, was able to generate a film with the typical charm of the bizarre. Beyond the fact that his objective was to make a parody (which would later have its specialists in the United States), the pulse and commitment of an artisan who finally managed to excel in an underdeveloped niche in South America is noticeable. The film is good? It holds up and offers not only the usual but also some good humor (Jess Franco´s style) and that is appreciated. Victor Maytland died this month, may he rest in peace.
