Whilst it becomes foolishly chaotic at the climax, there's still enough good intent and plot sense to keep the viewer engaged to a satisfying denouement worthy of a second look.

Judy Morris is excellent as the ostensibly timid babysitter who runs afoul a kidnapping plot by wanted fugitive Gerard Kennedy and his less enthusiastic accomplice Vince Martin. Carmen Duncan and Peter Stratford are also effective as the child's oblivious parents, and Queenie Ashton has a key supporting role playing a lonely old grandmother who frequents the railway station offering Morris' character a lifeline in her moment of need.

The more ominous plot elements are conveniently replaced by outlandish action sequences at the climax, though still suspenseful it shifts the tone from darkly plausible to comically absurd as Morris assertively takes-on the kidnappers.

Could've been a minor masterpiece instead it's an above-average crime thriller that doesn't fully realise its potential despite the inventive plot and overall good performances from a quality Australian cast.
