- Michael: A lot of people have tried to make "Notes from the Underground" into a film. "And why haven't I heard of them?", you might ask. They never finished. The reason is simple. Producers who undertook this had a great idea..."Ooh, I have a great idea! Let's do 'Notes from the Underground!'" Unfortunately it takes more than a great idea... or an earring... or a brownstone in Alphabet City. It takes a little passion. And if they had any passion, they wouldn't be producers.
- Michael: Another problem was that those producers had very big budgets. I don't have a budget. We don't need no stinkin' budgets!
- Michael: And how do the "Notes" translate to our post-modern era? If Fyodor were alive today he'd be using a camcorder... shmuck!
