Ask Aspel was two things. A clip request programme where you wrote to Michael Aspel and requested excerpts from BBC programmes, mainly kids or family programmes. A useful function in the days before VCR or Tivo or IPlayer.

The other function was a chat show as Aspel would interview a guest and rather a few memorable guests turned up such as Kate Bush, a person not known for giving many interviews and remember this is a children's show.

It was an enjoyable show, Aspel was a veteran television host but did not talk down to the kids and its the interviews that I found most enjoyable.

The family genre features stories specifically created to be suitable for a wide range of age groups within a family. Family-oriented content is designed to be enjoyed by both children and adults, often providing entertainment that is wholesome, relatable, and appropriate for all members of a family to watch or experience together.
