Lesbians in Uniforms

The film's title refers to the "sera fuku" (sailor outfit), a common Japanese style of school uniform, worn by female middle-school students, high-school students, and occasionally, elementary-school students. The style was originally used for female-university students, introduced at the Heian Jogakuin University in 1920 and the Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University in 1921. The style was originally based on the military uniforms used by the British Royal Navy in the early 20th century, and the similar "sailor dress" school uniform used for American schoolgirls in the 1910s.
