It's Aesop's fable told in Evelyn Lambart's colorful animation style.

Although Ms Lambart's early animation work was under the supervision of Norman Maclaren, I have become convinced she owed a great deal to silhouette animator Lotte Reiniger. Not only did they tend to turn to fables for their short works -- Miss Reiniger tended more towards fairy tales -- but their styles seem to be almost deliberately opposed. Miss Reiniger used artfully constructed and articulated figures, while Ms Lambart uses colorfully designed interiors. Both made considerable use of humor, in the way they told their tales.
