This National Film Board of Canada documentary about the slice of the Northwest Territories of Canada concentrates mostly on the Mackenzie River area, the people who live their, the industries they engage in -- trapping, mining, fishing, timber -- and their prospects for the future: more mining, and tourists.

I had to double-check the credits, which are a bit sparse. Between the hearty, major-key theme song which gets another verse or so at every opportunity, and the old-coot-who-forgot-his-store-teeth narrator, I thought I was looking at a Disney film. But it's not. It's from an era when jobs and uranium where the primary fixation of what we wanted from life.

The short form refers to creative works characterized by their brevity and concise storytelling. Unlike full-length feature films, short films have a running time of less than 45 minutes, while TV shorts have a running time of less than 22 minutes.
