I am so glad to find this reviewed here (and now even available to watch online (https://www.nfb.ca/film/blades_and_brass).

I have been searching for this for years - hoping to find it on the net (either to watch or purchase).

I remember it vividly from my youth - as a player - and just how powerfully it captured the game. (At that time - having changed in some ways (you'll only see one player in all of this with a helmet (It may look like two - but I think its him in home and away (Canadiens) colors), and you can see the primitive first-generation goalie mask (and how almost all the goalies wore nothing on their head or face).

It shows its speed, its grace, its truly "hard-hitting" and "tough" nature.

This is truly "Old Time Hockey" (the ONLY REAL kind of hockey - and NOTHING LIKE what you see in the NHL today (sad to say - they literally hired a guy who only knew Basketball, to "sell" the league, and his idea - was to turn it into Basketball on ice. A travesty. Those were not the truly progressive changes mentioned in the paragraph above - this was the degradation of a great (if not the greatest) game.

If you like hockey - and did not know it prior to the past ten or twenty years - you MUST watch this. This is what the sport is MEANT to be. You won't see anything like this today (at least in the NHL). And if you LOVE hockey - well - you will love this.
