I didn't remember some of these mysteries, even though I definitely watched them all when they were first transmitted, this is one of the ones I vividly remember.

The story is ok, perhaps not the greatest, but it's the set of characters here that make this such a good watch.

Beth Goddard is terrific as Mirabel, Rendell had such a talent for writing unpleasant characters, Mirabel would have been such a nightmare for anyone, Goddard really did bring her to life.

I love the ambiguity in this episode, we leave this wondering if she did or didn't. I like that about it, nothing is ever black and white.
