The Six Million Dollar Man: The Solid Gold Kidnapping

ABC aired this third pilot film on November 17, 1973, completing the trio of feature-length telefilms produced during the franchise's development cycle. Following the broadcast performance of the three pilots, Universal Television received a series commission for The Six Million Dollar Man as a regular weekly hour-long program. The weekly series premiered on ABC on January 18, 1974, with the episode "Population: Zero," launching a five-season run that concluded on March 6, 1978, after 100 regular episodes. Producer Harve Bennett assumed creative control for the weekly series and refined the format away from the James Bond pastiche of the second telefilm toward the action-adventure template that defined the franchise.

At "London Airport", Oscar is shown using a phone booth that, for some reason, is located in the driving lane of a parking lot, blocking a parking stall.

Re-edited into two episodes of "The Six Million Dollar Man" for syndication. To pad out the story, footage was re-edited, a new score by Oliver Nelson was inserted and scenes were added from The Seven Million Dollar Man (1974), Clark Templeton O'Flaherty (1975) and Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970).
