Trivia
The two soldiers that accompany Terra at the beginning of the game are intended to be references to the Star Wars characters Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antillies. However, in the English language version, there was a mistranslation, and Biggs became Vicks. This same error occurred when characters with the same names appeared in Chrono Trigger (1995) as two of the men in Norstein Beckler's lab. Later games in the Final Fantasy series used a corrected translation, beginning with Final Fantasy VII. It was corrected in the PlayStation Re-release in 2002.

Goofs
In the world of ruin, in Narshe, it is possible to get the Ragnarok Esper, and have a one-of-a-kind sword made out of it. Later on in the game, it is possible to steal the same sword from an enemy.

The PSX re-release has FMV sequences in it. All the swearing and crude slangs (eg. cunt) have been cut from the 1st US release and the Canadian release.
