The series aired in The Netherlands from 1987-88 under the title "Moddermonsters", which translates into "Mud Monsters".
The series was beloved in Poland, where, during the early 80s (still during the country's socialist period), it was broadcast under the title "Tajemnice wygaslych wulkanow" ("Secrets of Extinct Volcanoes"), and is often remembered as a series which traumatized multiple generations of children (chiefly due to the eerie scene of the Wilberforces' transformation).
Rebroadcast in the US as part of "The Third Eye" series on the children's network Nickelodeon.
The series was remade as a film, in 2009.
