KEN CLARK CARRIES THE ACTION, BUT NOT MUCH ELSE

I waited 50 years to finally view this movie and I must say, I was very disappointed. I now have a B & W Italian DVD. It actually looks like a "Vanity" movie where the "star" provides the funding and then stars in his own movie. The lead was in many other movies, but this one looks phoney as can be. KEN CLARK, who starred in many action movies from Hercules epic to Italian Westerns, seems to be brought in to handle all the action sequences. Ken Clark fights a lion, which is very similar to the lion fight in Hercules, (1959). He also leads his followers against Jacob's tribe at the climax. Each opposing army only have about 20 warriors which points to a very tight budget. The "special effect" are childish. This movie was made at the end of the Sword & Sandle era so, I guess it was an afterthought of sorts. Ken Clark has this wild looking hair style which looks out of place for the era. The lead even arm-wrestles with Ken which looks totally one sided. The entire first 30 mins., is nothing but sheep, cattle and palm trees. Very boring and slow with nothing but "talk". There are many familiar faces of actors and actresses working in that era. Many of the shooting locations around Rome are familiar, if you have seen a lot films from the early 1960s. Then Ken Clark shows up and the action starts to happen. This movie is strictly for Ken Clark fans and not much else. Larry Anderson.
