Cristu Polucsis did not direct many movies, he was most of his career Assistant Director. Yet, he passed away in 1978 and left only two beautiful and interesting movies. The first one, Fantomele se grabesc in 1966 which has a wonderful cast and is a mix of thriller and has some comedy elements.

The actors are all excellent and it is incredible the level of art that was alive during communist Romania at that time, known for propaganda and surveillance.

This movie is a rare piece of Romanian cinema at its best by a underrated director.

His second movie Moartea caprioarei (1969) is short, more singular and artistic as it is based on a poem of Nicolae Labis and was rewarded in Teheran in 1971.

It is difficult to get access to those movies but they were recently transferred and digitalized and should be available to be discovered by the public.
