It's a desperate fight for the city during the Russian Civil War. The Whites have unleashed the Cossacks, who are riding around, skewering good socialists. A trainload of Red soldiers is rushing to the valiant workers' relief, but the Whites have destroyed the train track! But the men and woman of Track Maintenance Carriage 100 are on hand.

It's not so simple as that, however. They don't get along, some of them are slackers and others are not the right sort of socialist. And when the lights go out, one of the key workers is found face down, with a knife in his back.. Who did it?

We never find out who or why in particular, except they are all annoying to some extent. Fast Academic editing keeps this one going. It's also a picture from Georgia, rather than closer to the halls of power in the Soviet Union, so there are some sly digs at the Soviets. Those would continue into the sound era.
