Jerry Desmonde, C. Denier Warren, and Mark Daly run a tobacconist. They are looking forward to a bequest from their recently deceased friend, totting up what they'll do with the ever-growing sum. It turns out he's left them a baby girl. Some years later, the infant has grown into Pauline Stroud. She's been extensively sheltered by her "uncles" and by husband-hungry Olive Sloane. She ventures into the world to the extent of working for lawyer Roddy Hughes. Her fellow worker, Sandra Dorne, takes her to a night club, where she meets shady Peter Hammond, and police sergeant Roy Purcell. Purcell is pursuing Hammond, who runs a shady garage, and he soon falls in love with Miss Stroud. She prefers the flashier Hammond.

Indefatigable quota quickie director Maclean Rogers directs this in jig time, and the cast, particularly the older players, don't waste much time on the farcical stuff. Instead, Desmonde impresses as warm and thoughtful, turning this into a watchably pleasant, if not particularly superior little movie, suitable for the lower half of a bill or a rainy afternoon.
