'Houla houla " is an unpretentious little comedy , a vehicle for stand up comic Fernand Raynaud ; the best lines deal with black humor : Fernand is sent to Houla Houla island where a mysterious epidemic is rampant; and he's told that he replaces a colleague who died of that strange desease.

He meets a doctor (Georges Rivière) and a gendarme ( Jean Lefèvre, who would re-enlist in the gendarme saga starring Louis de Funès);he is forced to marry a gorgeous wahine to make the wind blow when the ship is lost at sea ; but the doctor covets the Tahitian woman ;besides his French fiancée arrives on Houla Houla .....what a mess!
