The animals all go to an elaborate show, where they witness military close-order drill, extreme feats of juggling, and similar crowd pleasers. The purpose is to sell them a book on how to concentrate to achieve extraordinary cartoon effects, like birds laying enormous eggs, walking striaght up into the air, and eventually, walking blindfolded off a cliff without falling.

These are, of course, all examples of the things that within a decade would be mainstays of cartoon physics; in the later, better known examples, people can run off cliffs without falling because they haven't noticed it. Perhaps the Coyote has done that because he has learned the lesson so well. He is, after all, a super-genius.
