Stuart Canterbury put some effort into "R&R", a war-weary drama set during the Vietnam War. It is in the spirit of many disillusioned mainstream movies on the subject, but of course with plenty of explicit sex included.

It's personally narrated by Tony Tedeschi, who plays an American soldier tired of the fighting but still keeping his pledge to be true to his girlfriend Tiffany Mynx, waiting for him to return to the homefront. The tone overall is cynical and downbeat, as his pal Steve Drake is killed in combat and fellow soldiers, especially his lieutenant, well-played by Buck Adams, bully him.

He stays true until falling for a prostitute played by Asia Carrera, early in her career. He's given up on Minx as letters from her have stopped coming, but after his sex with Asia, he suffers when a batch of mis-delivered letters from Tiffany shows up, prompting overwhelming feelings of guilt. Canterbury manages a rather touching ending, as he dreams that Tiffany is visiting him and forgiving him.

The video is less pretentious and more effective than Brad Armstrong's hyped "big-deal" XXX war movie in this vein, "Coming Home".
