Prisioneros de una Noche was a revolutionary film in introducing us to the world of the marginalized in the big city, since until then white telephones and imposing staircases were the norm; Martín Sánchez is a pawn who lives in a railway car, Elsa Portela is a prostitute in disguise who poses as a paid dancer at an academy, Roberto Brenda is a street vendor with a boa constrictor coiled around his neck, and Bebe is a rental car driver; it was also revolutionary in dispensing with studio sets and showing, as never before, the Buenos Aires night as another character, with its lights and shadows, its frivolity and its dramas; Prisioneros de una Noche impressed deeply when was seen for the first time at its premiere, and it continues impressing every time is seen again, wich happens quite frequently; David Jose Kohon was a prominent Argentine director who did not receive due recognition for his great contributions to national cinema. He made only 7 feature films, the last of them in 1980, and died poor and forgotten in 2004.
