    • Trivia
The film is set during the Congress of Erfurt (1808), a meeting between Napoleon, Emperor of the French, and Alexander I, Emperor of All Russia. The Conference was intended to strengthen the then-recent alliance between them, and to set up a common military strategy against the Austrian Empire. The alliance disintegrated following the Congress, and France declared war on the Russian Empire in 1812.
    • Goofs
The opening scene shows a sign to the city theater Jena. The story is set in 1808 when theater play was actually forbidden in Jena since 1800. It wasn't until 1828 when regular performances were accepted. Before that performances were done illegally and secretly, so there wouldn't have been a public sign. A theater was built in Jena in 1872.
