With its provocative title, LITTLE GIRLS OF THE STREETS promised a whole lot more than it delivers. Still alive on DVD due to presence of future super-star Christy Canyon in the cast, it is routine porn masquerading as an expose.

First problem is casting Tommy Winchester in a non-sex role as the mean pimp of the story. Because he can't act the whole premise of the feature falls apart -he's not tough enough, merely browbeating the girls on the need to get him a ton of money by his latest deadline, as he's in deep with mobsters who don't take no or be patient for an answer. His big line has dated quite a bit: "I could make more money as a TV repairman". That reminds us of one of the staples of stag movie subjects, now gone with the wind. Maybe future porn loops will involve the Best Buy Geek Squad making house calls??

Painfully under-lit in its attempt at gritty location photography at night, the video is merely a series of sex scenes as the young whores do their thing. Even the boring HBO documentaries on the subject are more scintillating and certainly far more insightful than this weak-kneed effort.

Besides Canyon, Gina Valentino and the relatively unknown Jade Nichols also get their licks in as prosties, earning about $20 to $40 a pop. Best part of the video for me was a tour of the streets displaying movie marquees listing vintage titles, like The Cave playing a Roberta Findlay double-bill: SWEET PUNKIN' and ANYONE BUT MY HUSBAND; the Circus Cinema showing TABOO and hyping Dorothy LeMay "fresh from her smash hit '10': (the Blake Edwards movie was certainly a hit, but Dorothy was merely an extra alongside other porno chic greats like Serena and Annette Haven); the Burlesk showing LONG JEAN SILVER and the classic PANDORA'S MIRROR at the Pussycat Theater. Ultimately, it's time capsule documentation like that which gives a modicum of value to these throwaway porn videos.
