Ephemeral porn worth watching for Mindy Rae

Though she's not even listed in the opening credits, Mindy Rae is the reason to catch this forgotten porn video, dutifully reissued on DVD by Alpha Blue Archives in a salute to Mindy.

It's a lackluster effort from video maven Ned Morehead, whose TALK DIRTY TO ME PART III was perhaps the only significant title he ever cranked out.

Seen 25 years later it struck me as unbelievably quaint, or in porn terms positively nostalgic the way TV fanatics get off on watching '50s series like LEAVE IT TO BEAVER or FATHER KNOWS BEST again. Tale of a couple of bored housewives (Sheri St. Clair and Tess Ferre) is so lightweight that it disappears into thin air even before the end credits roll.

The gals are next door neighbors, married to Buck Adams and Billy Dee who wear those polyester suits to work each morning that perfectly typify the time frame. Sheri and Tess have a lesbian scene to kill time, when a young workman stops by, and we get an instant threesome. Against the grain of usual porn structure, he shows up later in the film for more sex, rather than the expected one-shot filler.

Buck calls home routinely, while his secretary (Susan Lion) is giving him a blow job. An odd touch is a scene of her carefully shaving her pussy with a Gillette razor thrown in for no particular reason. While Buck is on the phone Lion is involved in a threesome, including a double penetration shot.

Morehead seems interested in symmetry, as the next scene has Buck catching wifey with the workman, cueing an unexpected reaction: instead of getting mad, he immediately joins in for yet another double penetration.

Mindy shows up comically as a door-to-door do-gooder wearing a Save the Whales t-shirt. She gives Ferre's husband Billy Dee her spiel but all he wants is sex and Mindy obliges in quality fashion, showcasing her monumental breasts.

The couples decide to do wife swapping, after a funny prelude gag of them getting together to play dirty scrabble (spelling counts with words like cunnilingus and fellatio). Finale is on a high note with Mindy arriving to do her spiel again, and ending up in a threesome with Buck & Billy.

Ending convinced me that Morehead & company were trying to make some sort of statement, filtered through the lens of porn sensibility, about the conformity of American Suburban culture -right out of the '50s rather than the '80s. Final scene is Billy & Buck going to work as usual, but (undoubtedly due to swapping & absentmindedness) carrying each other's briefcases by accident and even each about to get into the wrong car before politely correcting themselves. Camera zooms in on their "NO DOGS ALLOWED" sign as they head for work and we have a semi-cryptic conclusion.

Husbands and wives neighbors cheat on each other with each other and/or with a handyman, secretary and whale activist.
