Who says furniture can't be as emotional as 'actors'?

To the strains of 'The Four Seasons', an austere room comes alive, the chairs moving in circular formation, while a bare table begins to sprout buds, which come alive, cress-style, choreographed to music.  This sounds like a hollow formalist exercise, and the sheer animated logistics are impressive.  But there is a melancholy poetry too, as the animation leads only to inescapable repetition.  The chairs become aware of this expressivity and find within themselves compartments to facilitate similar growth.

Vivaldi's bright Spring music is a beautifully ironic counterpart to this, and the films' focusing on the table's verdure, uniform, blowing to the music achieves a lovely, haunting beauty.
