Sholi gia soferines is a simple yet highly entertaining comedy.

The romantic subplot is a letdown - though Vengos expresses a man's frustrations in a relatable way - and doesn't offer much to the film, which is better viewed as a pure comedy.

Vengos portrays a simple, everyday man, but gets involved in some crazy situations. For example, he tries to teach a woman - Mary Metaxa - how to drive, but she is a lost cause. Another woman mistakes him for his colleague and takes revenge by luring him to the races, where he loses all his savings (Astrakhan!), not to mention she abandons him in the middle of nowhere. He enters into a fake marriage with a woman he loves and has an accident in the meantime. His uncle-in-law - Zannino - makes him part of a fraudulent scheme against his wife's company and they settle their differences by fighting.

There are even a couple of occasions where the film breaks the fourth wall. The first time is when the waiter brings him loukoumi (Turkish delight) instead of coffee and Vengos' reaction is hilarious. The second is when a kid recognises him.
