When Ulrike enters the workshop of Adolph Menzel he is painting his picture "Cercle at the Court of Emperor Wilhelm I" from 1879, which sets the time of the movie. However an unnamed sister of Menzel leads her into the room. Menzel had two sisters, both of them were dead in 1879, Margarete died in 1879, Emilie died in the 1870s.
