An artsy-fartsy absurdist mess of a film.

"Animals with the Tollkeeper" is the sort of film 'with it' folks love....and everyone else avoids like the plague. While I do like unusual and even some artsy movies, this one was just dull and pointless to me...a prime example of absurdism.

The movie begins with a very low energy and seemingly pointless short sepia-toned short movie starring Mickey Rooney as a tollkeeper. When it mercifully ends, the rest of the movie (in full color) begins...and it made me sort of miss the short film...as the story made no sense nad seems to be designed for a tiny and select group of viewers.

Absurdist movies are ones with apparently no meaning and lots of random and nonsensical situations. French movies like "Buffet Froid" and this film are both very absurdist...and they are deliberately meant to make no sense. For me, life is too short for this sort of thing and I hated this movie from start to finish. Perhaps I am just not 'with it'.
