      The scene at Medieval Times where The Cable Guy asks for Steven's chicken skin and then performs his The Silence of the Lambs (1991) impression was not scripted. During one take, Jim Carrey asked for the skin out of nowhere. Director Ben Stiller loved that moment and decided to keep it in the film. Matthew Broderick's reaction, and his laugh as Carrey was doing the impression, are genuine.

      At the karaoke party, Chip sings "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane, which he says was featured in Gimme Shelter (1970), the documentary about The Rolling Stones concert at Altamont. Jefferson Airplane plays "The Other Side of This Life" in the movie, not "Somebody to Love."

The cut occurs when Steven and The Cable Guy are fighting on top of the TV satellite, towards the ending. A shot of Guy headbutting Steven, as well as a brief ear-clap, has been omitted.
